Off-season Seattle Kraken notes: Preseason, ticket options, and fanatics jerseys

Seattle, WA - With the 2023-24 NHL season officially over and the Stanley Cup taking a swim in the Atlantic Ocean, it’s only right that we put last season behind us and start looking toward the future. On Wednesday, the Seattle Kraken announced its preseason schedule for the 2024-25 season so you can go ahead and start your countdowns now.

This year, the Kraken preseason starts at Climate Pledge Arena on September 22nd against the Calgary Flames before they head north to the Vancouver Canucks’ Rogers Arena on September 24th. The Kraken will then host the Canucks at CPA on September 27th in a fun sort of home and home with Vancouver during their preseason schedule. On September 28th, the Kraken will face Conn Smythe Trophy winner Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers at Rogers Place before heading to the Scotiabank Saddledome on September 30th for a second game against the Flames. The preseason ends in Seattle on October 2nd with a visit from the Oilers at Climate Pledge Arena, in the last contest before the Kraken get to play meaningful hockey.

NHL teams are required to play between six and eight preseason games to allow coaches to test out rosters and evaluate who will find a permanent spot on the lineup. These few games will be key for new head coach Dan Bylsma and the current Kraken roster to get to know each other in an NHL capacity. Considering the cap space and draft capital that Seattle can play with in order to upgrade their roster, it will be interesting to see what this Kraken group will look like when we do get to the preseason.

2024-25 will mark the fourth-consecutive season that the Kraken will play their preseason games against the Flames, Oilers and Canucks. The regular season schedule is expected to be announced on July 2nd.

More ticket options than ever before

Along with the preseason schedule, the Kraken announced expanded ticket options for traveling fans outside of the Seattle area with weekend-only ticket packs.

“Our goal is to make the Kraken experience available to more fans than ever before,” said Ali Daniels, SVP of Marketing for the Kraken. “Our team has carefully curated these selections of games to meet fans where they are and align with their interests.”

Other six-game ticket packs include a home opener pack to give fans a chance to get guaranteed seats to Bylsma’s first regular season game and giveaway packs for Kraken collectors looking to attend merch giveaways on game days.

The Kraken said the six-game ticket packs provide up to 20% savings on tickets in comparison to single-game tickets and do not include ticketing fees. Single game tickets will go on sale in September on Ticketmaster.

New season, new threads

To add even more anticipation for the new season, Fanatics, the NHL's new on-ice jersey supplier, unveiled each team’s new Fanatics Authentic Pro uniforms.

Despite keeping similar look for most teams (not counting the LA Kings and Anaheim Ducks), the new Fanatics jerseys have a few modifications based on player feedback:

  • An additional layer of fabric inside the lower sleeve to enhance uniform durability intended to reduce material wear from sustained friction against the boards

  • New shoulder fabrics that replace the debossed pattern fabric used on the shoulders of the prior NHL jersey.

  • A new NHL Shield execution on the front neck of the jersey with a special hologram finish.

  • Fanatics branding embroidered on the back neck of the jerseys.

Authentic jerseys identical to the ones players wear will be available for purchase, something that didn’t exist under the Adidas partnership. The levels of jerseys available to fans will be Authentic Pro, Premium (equivalent to the highest level of retail jersey that exists now), Breakaway (the existing Fanatics fan jersey) and a new retail version of the practice jersey.

Fans will be able to see the new jerseys in action during the 2024 Upper Deck NHL Draft which starts on Friday at Sphere with the first round at 4 PM PDT and rounds 2-7 on Saturday at 8:30 AM PDT.

What’s next?

The 2024 NHL draft will take place at the end of the month of June, as it spans from the 28th of the month through the 29th as it will take place in Las Vegas at the “Sphere.” This will be the 62nd entry draft in the history of the National Hockey League, and the fourth draft class that our Seattle Kraken will welcome into their prospect pool following some strong classes dating back to their inaugural year when they got Matty Beniers and Ryker Evans with their first two selections ever. With a top ten pick this season following a year that didn’t go how they thought it would given the playoff success in 2022-23, the Kraken have the opportunity to “reload” in a sense as they’ll look to bring in some serious offensive firepower via free agency or the trade market while also having a high pick that has the chance to be a major impact player at the NHL level at some point in the semi-near future.
