Mühl’s MRI reveals torn meniscus in addition to ACL injury

In her first appearance with Turkish club Beşiktaş on Thursday, Storm guard Nika Mühl suffered a torn ACL, the president of the team’s basketball executive board, Özkan Arseven, confirmed on X. Mühl was injured late in the third period of the team’s eventual loss to the Fenerbache in the FIBA Women’s SuperCup.

After an MRI was performed, the team announced via X on Friday morning that Mühl also torn her left meniscus.

Mühl, who signed with Besiktas in late May, had just arrived in Turkey after Seattle’s playoff run ended in the first round of the WNBA playoffs.

Late in the third period, Mühl intercepted a pass and was attempting to turn up court on a fastbreak push when her left leg collapsed under her. She immediately screamed out in pain and was eventually taken off the court on a stretcher.

It’s important to note that Mühl started in place of WNBA champion Dana Evans and played nearly 28 straight minutes before enduring her injury. Besiktas coach Aziz Akkaya failed to utilize a single reserve until Mühl hit the floor. During the game, the announcers commented that fatigue was setting in and recommended substitutions when available.

Mühl finished the game with 11 points, three rebounds, and nine assists.
