Mariners minor league daily wrap up: August 12th, 2024

Seattle, WA - For this edition of the Seattle Mariners Minor League daily wrap up, Circling Seattle Sports MiLB correspondent Berlin Kofoed goes over the day in games on Monday, August 12th, 2024 for the Seattle Mariners farm system as five teams were in game action throughout that day. There was only one contest today, as the large majority of the minor league system does not get any game action but the Dominican Summer League was in action so we have that game to look at! DSL Mariners (14-34) - DSL Giants Black (36-12)

A shutout loss for the DSL Mariners came from the DSL Giants Black, and it’s always rough to see happen. In 32 at bats, through 12 batters, they struck out 14 times and only drew one walk and put up four hits. The DSL Giants Black, on the other hand, struck out nine times and drew five walks with 12 hits through 35 at bats. Kendal Meza only went for two innings but allowed two runs off of three hits and one walk, striking out two batters and being awarded his fifth loss.
Meza’s final line: 2.0IP, 3H, 2R, 2ER, 1BB, 2K, 0HR, 2.31ERA.
Shutouts are extra difficult to write about, because there just isn’t anything really to be said. They were 1-for-5 with runners in scoring position. Bases were loaded with two outs in the top of the third, but a pop out from Eduardo Ponce ended those hopes of at least getting onto the board. That was the closest they got to scoring all game, though, never again getting beyond second base. We all know that I want this team to go on a win streak to see the season out, but we’re getting closer and closer to the final game and they’re not showing any signs of that streak.
The Mariners MiLB affiliate teams did not play on August 12th.
