Press release: CSS adds writer Becca Weinberg for Seattle Reign FC coverage + More

By Charles Hamaker

Seattle, WA - As we look to add to our content and improve it at Circling Seattle Sports for our 40 Seattle-area teams that fall under our coverage umbrella, adding talented contributors to teams that only have one writer is necessary. Becca Weinberg, a student at the University of Oregon and current writer with “Lookout Landing,” an independent outlet covering the Seattle Mariners and friend of CSS, will join to add to coverage of Seattle Reign FC. Becca already has strong written experience with Lookout Landing and in other areas, now helping to improve our Reign coverage. Additionally, with Becca’s help, Circling Seattle Sports will be adding coverage of two Ultimate Frisbee teams that call Seattle home: the Tempest and Cascades.

Hi CSS! I’m so excited to be joining your amazing team! My name is Becca Weinberg. I was born and raised in Seattle and am currently a senior at the University of Oregon, where I study journalism and sports business. I’ve been writing for Lookout Landing for the past five years covering the Mariners, and am looking forward to the opportunity to add some additional sports coverage to my wheelhouse at CSS. During the summers, I work in ballpark operations for the Mariners, and while at school, I work as an operations assistant for the track and field team. I also play on the club ultimate frisbee team at UO, and am the president of the Oregon Women in Sports Communications club. I love the outdoors, and can usually be found hiking, biking, skiing or anything else that will get me outside. Thank you for welcoming me into the team, I can’t wait to get to know everyone!
— Becca Weinberg

Weinberg has shown a passion for women’s soccer and expressed interest in covering the team, and will be a boost to CSS’ Reign coverage. While we’ve been a proud producer of Reign content across many different avenues including written, video, and interview work plus a social media presence, Becca’s addition will add further to that as CSS aims to be the best outlet for Reign coverage with more plans in the works to build on that idea. Becca has mentioned a strong interest in coverage of the Tempest and Cascades, and with Circling Seattle Sports mulling that as well previously, the decision to add the two teams to our coverage umbrella was an easy one.

Adding Becca was an easy decision upon hearing her interest in joining the Circling Seattle Sports team. While we proudly are one of just a few media outlets that legitimately cover the Reign and have been doing so since the outlet was created back in late 2019, there is always more we can do to improve our coverage and the goal is to dominate the media space covering the Reign. Additionally, the interest to add the cities Ultimate Frisbee teams is exciting and we will be covering the Tempest and Cascades moving forward. Please help me welcome Becca to the team!
