Seattle Reign FC drop final match of 2024 to Orlando Pride in tight 2-3 result

Our Seattle Reign FC dropped their final match of the 2024 NWSL season, losing by one goal to this years NWSL Shield winners in the Orlando Pride on the road. Goals by Jordyn Huitema and Maddie Mercado helped Seattle keep up, but not enough to complete a comeback attempt as the Pride put up two key goals in the first half including one that proved questionable but wasn’t overturned.

The OL Reign clinched the West division of the 2023 UKG Challenge Cup behind another clean sheet and Bethany Balcer’s penalty goal in the 71st minute. In the second match without their seven international players, the OL Reign had to battle back from a two-goal deficit to split points with visiting Racing Louisville FC. Despite the fact that the match ended in a draw, considering the way that the match played out and the resiliency displayed by the Reign, this feels more like a victory.
