Seattle Reign FC Announce 2025 Roster

By Becca Weinberg, edited by Charles Hamaker

Seattle, WA - The 2025 Seattle Reign roster has been announced ahead of the club’s season opener against NJ/NY Gotham on March 15th at Lumen Field. The 29-player roster includes seven new players, including four first year players, and 22 returners under contract. The 2025 roster also includes three players on loan through June, and two on the season-ending injury list. The Reign will undoubtedly be looking to bounce back from a disappointing 2024 campaign despite a return to their original branding, and the hope is that the additions made (although not major) will help push them over the edge.

We’re pleased with where our roster stands heading into the 2025 season. This offseason, we’ve added quality depth, pace and immediate impact to the squad. Preseason has been invaluable for building chemistry, refining our playing identity and setting clear goals. It’s an exciting time at Seattle Reign FC, and we’re focused on growing together every day to compete for hardware. We look forward to kicking off the season in front of our fans at Lumen Field on Saturday.

Below is a breakdown of each position group and its rostered players.

Goalkeepers:

Claudia Dickey’s dominance in goal returns for another season with the Reign after she recorded 18 starts and 61 saves last season, the sixth-most saves by a Reign FC goalkeeper in a single season in club history. Dickey also secured three clean sheets in 2024 with a 1.33 Goals Against Average (GAA). Unless something happens, whether that’s injury or the day-to-day competition as Laura Harvey has been one to mention that they always want to compete within, Dickey is slated as your top keeper for another year.

Alongside Dickey are two new additions, veteran Cassie Miller and first-year player Maddie Prohaska. Miller was the other piece of the NY/NJ Gotham trade that acquired Lynn Biyendolo (formerly Williams), and enters her fifth NWSL season this year. With Gotham last season, Miller made four regular season starts with one clean sheet and 12 saves. She spent the two years prior on the Kansas City Current, and secured five shutouts in 12 starts with 36 saves.

Prohaska joins the Reign from Auburn University, where she started in 96 matches over five years, and recorded 36 shutouts to break the all-time school record. She also finished her career at Auburn with a .093 GAA and 291 saves. The third goalkeeper signed, previously the position held by Maia Perez last year, Prohaska helps give Seattle some valuable depth at the goalkeeper position.

Defenders:

Club original Lauren Barnes returns for her 13th season, joining Reign forward Jess Fishlock as the only remaining active NWSL players to play every season with the same club since the league was created. The club captain has played in 232 of the Reign’s 252 regular season matches, and holds the league record for minutes played with 19,795 and counting. Barring injury, Barnes should knock a few more milestones off including the achievement of hitting 20,000 minutes played.

Joining Barnes in the back line are multiple returns as well as a few new faces. Centerbacks Jordyn Bugg and Phoebe McClernon return to command the Reign FC defense, with 2,431 minutes shared between them in 2024. Julia Lester also returns to the back line in hopes of earning more minutes this season after five games and two starts in 2024.

On the left side, the team’s fullback positions will feature returners Shae Holmes and Hanna Glas, with Holmes likely getting the majority of the starts in the 2025 season. The right side will include second-year defender Madison Curry, who the club signed to a two-year deal out of free agency in December, and exciting first-year player Emily Mason. Curry appeared in 22 games during her rookie season for Angel FC in 2024 and led the team in duels won with 119, tackles won with 45, and interceptions with 43. Mason joins the Reign from Rutgers University, where she recorded six goals and seven assists across 82 total appearances. During her debut season in 2021, Mason helped lead Rutgers to its first Big Ten Conference title for both the program and University.

This year’s defensive group additionally features Sofia Huerta, who is on loan to Olympique Lyonnais of the Première Ligue through June, and Lily Woodham, who is on loan to Crystal Palace until the beginning of July as well. And finally, Ryanne Brown, who is currently on the Season Ending Injury (SEI) list due to a torn ACL and meniscus suffered last July, but is expected to return towards the end of this season.

Midfielders:

As mentioned above, club original Jess Fishlock is also back for her 13th season with the club, joining Reign defender Lu Barnes as the only remaining active NWSL players to play every season with the same club since the league was created. Fishlock is the club’s all-time regular-season assist leader, ranking second all-time in games played, games started, minutes played, and goals for Seattle Reign FC. Last season, she became the third player in NWSL history to play 15,000 regular season minutes.

Joining Fishlock in the midfield are many returns from 2024. With multiple options for the defensive mid position, including Angharad James-Turner and Olivia Van der Jagt, and further attacking mid options like Ji So-Yun, Ainsley McCammon, Sam Meza, and Maddie Mercado, the team will look to add versatility to the middle and allow fluidity among its depth. James-Turner and Van der Jagt both played in 15 games last season, with multiple shots on goal each. So-Yun, one of the team’s international players, started in 22 of the team’s 26 games, recording three goals and three assists through 2,047 minutes. McCammon, Meza, and Mercado will all likely be competing for minutes in the midfield after very little playing time last season. One more piece of midfield depth, Sofia Cedeno, joined the team as a preseason trialist and secured a contract through 2025. She will begin the season on loan to Brooklyn FC of the USL Super League until July.

Forwards:

A strong forward group will take the field for the Reign this season, led by recent offseason acquisition Lynn Biyendolo from NY/NJ Gotham. She recorded 12 goals in 40 appearances with Gotham, including an NWSL championship in 2023. Joining Biyendolo up top will be returners Ana-Maria Crnogorčević, Jordyn Huitema, Nérilia Mondesir, Emeri Adames, and new signing Maddie Dahlien. With a lot of depth across the board, the competition for minutes will be interesting to watch. Crnogorčević and Huitema, two other international players on the roster, both secured the most starts last season with Huitema scoring three goals and Crnogorčević recording one assist. Mondesir and Adames both had significant appearances off the bench, but will also likely be fighting for starting spots this season. Dahlien joins the team fresh off a 2024 NCAA championship with UNC, and provides exciting speed in her attack up top. In her three seasons at UNC, Dahlien recorded seven goals and 13 assists across 65 matches. Veronica Latsko is also on the 2025 roster, but will spend the year on the SEI list due to a torn achilles suffered in the team’s first preseason match.

With a versatile roster to begin the 2025 season, the Reign look to open with a win on Saturday at home. Be sure to tune in at 7pm to catch all the action.
