Lu legend: Barnes reaches 200 career regular season matches, continuing to lead the club through character and action
On June 10th, 2023, OL Reign defender Lu Barnes played in her 200th career NWSL regular season match, the most ever by a player in the league and counting. Barnes has set the tone for the club on and off the pitch, providing leadership with grace and kindness throughout her 11 year career.
Thorn in their side: Reign fall to Thorns, 2-0, in doubleheader
In the second ever Seattle vs Portland doubleheader, the OL Reign fell to the Portland Thorns as the Reign’s attacking quality failed to beat Portland’s defense. On the other end, the Thorns found two pockets of space to score goals that the Reign couldn’t match in the end.
Back to basics: OL Reign score four unanswered to beat Angel City
The OL Reign rebounded from a tough 4-1 loss to NY/NJ Gotham FC with a result of the same score but in their favor, defeating Angel City FC in NWSL Regular season play. Forward’s Megan Rapinoe, Elyse Bennett, and Veronica Latsko highlighted the show with big performances as the club secured three points.
Reign stumble heavily out of the gate, falling to Gotham by three goals
The OL Reign dropped their second match in a row, this one in blowout fashion as the club was blasted by NY/NJ Gotham FC thanks to a final score of 4-1. The Reign stumbled defensively out of the game, as mistakes riddled their backline and Gotham scored twice within the first 12 minutes. The Reign never recovered, failing to score their first goal of the match until the 73rd minute when things were already far out of reach.
Latsko leads the way for Reign in 2-0 victory over Dash
The OL Reign, playing in their third match over the course of seven days, battled through a hard first half before scoring twice thanks to Veronica Latsko and Jordyn Huitema to secure their 100th regular season win in club history and move into the top spot of the NWSL table.
Reign battles with Angel City to draw as Ivory and King make big plays
The OL Reign played the second match of three in a span of seven days, recording a scoreless draw against Angel City FC in the second match that both teams have played in this years Challenge Cup; both of them against each other.
Reign find finishing touch, net five goals in victory over Red Stars
The OL Reign returned home to Lumen Field and NWSL regular season play with a 5-2 victory over the Chicago Red Stars, powered by braces scored by forward Bethany Balcer and midfielder Jess Fishlock. Although the Reign had miscues on their two goals allowed to Chicago, they were able to dominate the Red Stars.
Van Der Jagt’s game winner in stoppage time gives Reign victory over Wave in home opener
The OL Reign had a successful home opener, handing a defeat to the visiting San Diego Wave courtesy of Olivia Van Der Jagt’s game winner in the 90+5 minute of the match. Goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce was excellent in net, locking down another clean sheet for a club record.
Seattle’s sports success is here to stay, as youth across all teams inspires hope that should transcend into the future
Considering Seattle’s current professional sports success (5 of 8 teams having made the playoffs in 2022-23 at the time of this being published), there is a great amount of youth on the teams. That youth should help the team continue it’s success for years, and hopefully decades, to come.

OL Reign defeat Club América 3-1, launching their partnership
In a friendly match that launched their partnership, the OL Reign proved victorious against Club America in a 3-1 result at Starfire stadium in front of a packed crowd. The Reign saw goals from forwards Tziarra King and McKenzie Weinert in addition to an own goal from their opponents.
