To begin a four-game road series against the red hot Minnesota Twins, the Seattle Mariners failed to muster three hits and just one run as they fell and wasted a strong pitching performance from Luis Castillo.

For a second straight night, the Seattle Mariners offensive attack was nonexistent for the majority of the game as they fell to the Minnesota Twins and continue to disappoint out of the All-Star break. Mariners starting pitcher Luis Castillo had an interesting night, striking out a season high while giving up two homers in the process.

To open their four game series against the Minnesota Twins, the Seattle Mariners survived a ninth inning scare with a 7-6 victory. Seattle’s 7 runs over three innings seemed like more than enough, but a three-run homer made things a bit tense with two outs in the top of the ninth.
