Who to watch in the 2025 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships from Seattle area teams
With the 2025 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships beginning today, there are nine players that call the Seattle area home currently that you should keep an eye on if you’re a hockey fan around here. Eight of them are prospects of the Seattle Kraken, including one that’s an Everett Silvertips player, and one is a co-captain for our Seattle Thunderbirds.

For a second straight night, the Seattle Thunderbirds got into a hole early against their opponent, and while they were able to find a late push, it wasn't enough as this time the Everett Silvertips got the best of their rival to the South.

Thunderbirds late push not enough to overcome penalty riddled contest in loss to Royals
The Seattle Thunderbirds, in their second game of a three-game homestand, dropped a frustrating and penalty riddled game against the Victoria Royals. With a few positives, including scoring on the power play four times and seeing the penalty kill eliminate five of six man advantage opportunities, Seattle couldn’t overcome an odd game that had it’s pace derailed but the number of penalties called in it.

Heroic Hanzel seals game two victory for Thunderbirds in Western Conference Final
In game two of the Western Conference Final, the Seattle Thunderbirds faced some adversity as they faced a two-goal deficit in the third period, but were able to roar back and take the win in overtime thanks to defenseman Jeremy Hanzel’s blast from the blueline. Seattle now takes a two-game lead into Kamloops as the series flips over to the Blazers barn for the next two games.

Thunderbirds tame Cougars in 4-1 win to open second round of WHL Playoffs
The Seattle Thunderbirds opened up the second round of the WHL playoffs, defeating the Prince George Cougars in game one of the series. Dylan Guenther’s two goals in the first period lead the way, as birthday boy Thomas Milic played well in net for Seattle.

Thunderbirds punch their playoff ticket with exhilarating back and forth win over Silvertips
In a heated rivalry game, it took a Brad Lambert overtime winner for the Seattle Thunderbirds to defeat the Everett SIlvertips. Seattle and Everett exchanged gut punches and lead changes, but ultimately the Thunderbirds were better prepared for the overtime period.
