By Berlin Kofoed, edited by Charles Hamaker
Seattle, WA - For this edition of the Seattle Mariners Minor League daily wrap up, Circling Seattle Sports MiLB correspondent Berlin Kofoed goes over the day in Mariners minor-league action for Monday, August 5th, 2024, but there’s only one game to go over as Seattle’s Dominican Summer League team played against one of the Arizona Diamondbacks teams in that league. While it was a quiet day across the Mariners farm system when it comes to game action, there were a few notable players transactions in the minor-leagues, so there’s that to look at as well with the top three draft picks for Seattle being added officially to the organization and beginning their journey to the big league level. Take a look at the roster moves, the result, and more here from Berlin in this days Mariners minor league daily wrap up!

August 05, 2024 Wrap Up
Dominican Summer League
DSL Mariners (12-31) - DSL Arizona Black (10-34)
2 - 3
W: Stiven Rogers (3-2)
L: Fernando Silvera (1-2)
S: Frederic Frias (1)
It was a close game between the DSL Mariners and the DSL Arizona Black, but the DSL Mariners just barely couldn’t get enough on the board in the final seventh inning. Kendal Meza got the start, and he went 4.0 innings where he only allowed one hit while striking out an impressive six of the 15 batters he faced. The loss, however, went to Fernando Silvera, who came in for 0.2 innings, allowed two walks, and let the DSL Arizona Black get one run across home plate.
Meza’s final line: 4.0IP, 1H, 0R, 0ER, 0BB, 6K, 0HR, 1.91ERA.
Silvera’s final line: 0.2IP, 0H, 1R, 0ER, 2BB, 1K, 0HR, 5.68ERA.
The DSL Mariners put up 26 at bats where they drew three walks, earned six hits, and only struck out four times. Honestly, a strong game from the team that has been struggling quite a bit this season. With the last couple of games, it looks like they’re starting to mesh quite a bit and are finally starting to be the strong team that I hoped that they would be in the beginning of the season. However, despite their strength of play, they could only put up a couple of runs in the final inning, after the DSL Arizona Black had already put up three runs. Those three runs were just enough for the DSL Mariners to take another loss, but I hope that their strength carries on to the upcoming games for the final month.
The Mariners MiLB affiliate teams did not play on August 5th, as typically minor league baseball teams do not play on Monday’s as a sort of rest day across the minors.
